MAKUTA (Doug, Jane, Aleata, and Rose) are a soulful pop-rock band signed with super producer Timbaland’s Bluestone imprint, and based out of Brooklyn, New York.
On November 15th, the band released their highly anticipated new album “Phosphenes” worldwide, a collection of songs that chronicle their personal journey, carefully crafting and combining classic songwriting with a fresh injection of riotous rock, cinematic pop, and soulful grooves, all by their own design. Playing nearly every instrument on the album (including cello, harp, violin, and viola), and while largely self-written and produced, the album also boasts an eclectic host of collaborations, including Chad Hugo (of N*E*R*D*/The Neptunes), Toronto’s City Fidelia, Alabama, and others. MAKUTA will support the release with global touring.
MAKUTA has been featured on CBS, Billboard, NPR, Lifetime and Yahoo!, and have received critical praise from the likes of Perez Hilton. They were also featured headline performers at the inaugural GRAMMY© Block Party (and subsequently featured on the GRAMMY’s official website + social media pages). They have toured nationally with The Band Perry, Keaton Simons, among many others, and collaborated with numerous artists and producers of note, including Timbaland, Chad Hugo (of N*E*R*D* and The Neptunes), Maroon 5, Hall & Oates, Aaron Henningsen (of The Henningsens), Mike Viola, Scott Storch, Ron Carter, Peedi Crakk, Bleu, among many others.
